club nominates a charity that it will support during
the year. These can be local, national or even international
charities and money is raised by a variety of events
ranging from tin-shakes to sporting events to organised
socials such as formal dinners.

Our current nominated charity
is the Alexander Devine Children's Cancer Care
Trust. It was set up in memory of a little boy
called Alexander. Alexander was diagnosed with
a rare brain tumour in November 2001 at the tender
age of just four years. In honour of his outstanding
courage and strength his parents have formed this
trust. The long term aim for Alexander’s
Trust is to build and fund a Children’s
Hospice service in the Berkshire area. In order
to build Alexander House a minimum of £1.6m
needs to be raised to achieve this goal.
