Reading and Caversham Rotaract Raise Funds for Daisy’s Dream
Club President Matt Redfearn presents Yvonne Dexter with a cheque.
Reading and Caversham Rotaract is pleased to announce
that during a recent Monday meeting a cheque for £100 was passed
to Yvonne Dexter of Daisy’s Dream to help fund their work in
assisting bereaved children in Berkshire.
Laura Dielhenn, ex-President of Reading and Caversham
Rotaract club, said: “It was great to have a chance to speak to
Yvonne and find out more about the work of Daisy’s Dream and this
money will go some way to assisting in their excellent work”.
She continued: “Rotaract is a very varied
organization carrying out a wide range of activities, including visits
from external guest speakers such as Yvonne. While participation in
activities is of course not compulsory, most of the club have recently
taken part in Dragon Boat racing, a trip to Alton Towers and themed
parties. On the charitable side we have been raising funds for a number
of local charities such as Daisy’s Dream with activities such as
the Reading half marathon, organizing a pub quiz, while also helping
out with events such as gardening at the Duchess of Kent House, a local
hospice, and developing a garden for convalescence at the Wokingham
Hospital . A few weeks ago some of the club even took part in the 26
mile Cheltenham walk. Through our association with Rotary, there has
also been the opportunity for a job swap in Australia for a few
weeks”.
Reading and Caversham Rotaract meets every first and
third Monday at the Allied Arms, St. Mary’s Butts, and is always
pleased to welcome new members. For further information please visit
